Illustrator, designer, story teller, epic scene creator. Those are just a few things that are in Craig Henry’s description on his resume. Well, I think they should be there. I first noticed Craig’s work while I was looking at the list of contributors for the Silver Screen Society. His work caught my eye. He creates such great stories throughout his work using color and texture. I’ve asked Craig a few questions about his process and inspiration. His responses are below, and might I add, Craig is such a nice guy for even emailing back. We’ll be sure to stop in and say hello if we’re ever up north. Go and look at his work. You’ll be blown away.

How old are you and where are you from?
I am 29 years young and from Wilmington, MA.
What school did you attend?
I attended Savannah College of Art and Design and UNH :)
What’s your process in creating your work?
Good question. A lot of my textures are created in illustrator or by scanning in brush strokes, line work etc into Photoshop and making brushes. I generally waste lots of trees sketching out a concept, which I then scan and vectorize in Illustrator. From there I let all the colors and line/art combinations work out in Photoshop.
Where is your inspiration coming from at the moment?
My inspiration can come from various places, whether it be a landscape photo I’ve found on flickr or a scene I’ve watched in a movie. Often times, though - I am sitting at a table and I think something up, and I have to write it down so I don’t forget.
Were you always interested in illustration/art as a child?
Always. I wanted to work for Disney growing up, then I wanted to do comics, then I wanted to work on movie sets doing concept art. I think all of these paths have molded me into the artist I am today, and I just like to have fun creating whatever comes to mind.
